Sewing project

Sewing Class

One of my goals in life is to learn sewing as in sewing my own baju kurung and jubah. The chance to learn came when i saw an advert on facebook for a sewing class by IBTE. To cut the story short, i joined the class with a few of my friends in August and 30hrs of learning later, i am proud to say that i can sew my own baju kurung 😄 Thank you to our teacher, Cikgu Hjh Zubaidah for having the patience in teaching students with zero knowledge of sewing 😀

Novels

All these years, my reading preferences was more into english historical romance novels by authors such as Judith McNaught, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsey and Stephanie Laurens with the occassional Nicholas Sparks, Cecilia Ahern and Mills and Boons. Malay novels was a big NO-NO to me! It all changed when i bought Tuan Anas Mikael early last year (before the drama aired) and became hooked ever since. Now i have more than i can read and i can’t seem to stop buying them. The novels above are just some that i have read (some more than once) of my fave authors.

I believe now i have abibliophobia which in the end resulted in the piles of books above that i have yet to read 😣 andddd i still have a few more books coming at the end of the month. I just wish i have more TIME to read them!

This was during our KL trip earlier this year where i got the chance to go to the KL Book Fest (PBKL). Had to bring my luggage bag for my book haul which somebody was too happy about it! Hope i can come again next year to this event 😄

Hariz’s First Trip

We went on our first family vacation in January this year. As this was Hariz’s first trip by plane, i decided to bring along my parents to help us with him (wise decision as i don’t think we could’ve managed without them!). Our flight was on Saturday morning of the 10th of January. Right after take off, it was apparent that it was not going to be a smooth journey as Hariz started to cry probably due to the pressure. Luckily, 10 minutes after, he started to calm down and finally fell asleep.

We were in Kuala Lumpur for 5 days and we managed to go down to Malacca for a day trip as dearest husband and the parents have never been there.

Just a day before our flight home, my baby had a high fever which carried on until we came back to Brunei. His temperature were going up and down. We finally decided to take him to the hospital after meds from the clinic didn’t seem to be working. We took him to RIPAS hospital where the doctor decided to admit him since his temperature was quite high and he was having diarrhea. I was quite emotional and scared at that time. It was disheartening to see your baby being poked at with needles left and right. He was admitted for nearly a week and it was not an experience i want to go through again.

31st National Day Celebration

Its that time of the year again for us Bruneians to celebrate the day of independence. I missed last year’s celebration as i was around 7 months into my pregnancy. But there’s no escape this year. It was nice to be back and join the thousands of Bruneians in the National Day parade.

ASEAN Forum on Social Entrepreneurship 2014

I had the opportunity to join the Brunei Darussalam delegates to the ASEAN Forum on Social Entrepreneurship in Singapore on the 30th to 31st October 2014. There were 5 of us, with the Acting Director of Community Development as our Head of Delegation. I won’t go into details on the Forum itself, but as a whole, the Forum was an eye opener on how Social Enterprises have developed rapidly in the ASEAN region. However, for me this is the 1st time i’ve truly looked into the concept and what good it can bring to the community. So here’s just a glimpse of the Forum and my brief stay in Singapore.

I also managed to meet up with our family’s foster relative, whom i have not seen in for nearly 20 years. The last time we met was in 1994 in Brunei. It was nice to catch up with everyone, Auntie Fidah, her daughter, Fiqah and the twins, Nisah and Ayda. Hope the whole family can get together again in the near future 🙂
